I just got this today but wanted to get the word out that this unit(at least the one I received) is C-weighted, not A-weighted like the description currently states. The "weighting" has to do with the frequency response and the different versions are intended to match the human response to noises under different circumstances. A-weighting is more common and typically used for noise ordinances and OSHA requirements. There's a general consensus that A-weighting is not appropriate for anything over quiet room levels, but from what I've read, A-weighting is used as the standard for many situations (for better or worse).
That said, C-weighting is probably better for my purposes anyway. Often you have to get a more expensive unit that has both A and C to get C-weighted response.
As for the unit, for the price, it feels solid and looks like it could handle a drop or two. It has an automatic back-light, min-max functionality and a 1/4-20 threaded boss for mounting to a tripod etc. The unit is basic, but I'm happy with it. I don't have reference equipment to test the accuracy, but the values seem to match what I would expect for different environments.
