(More customer reviews)I am almost hesitating writing this review after only one day with this headset, because last time I did that with my Turtle Beach, I ended up eating my words. This Tritton, however, already seems like it is light years beyond the Turtle Beach. There are two reasons why I bought this headset, 1) because the Turtle Beach started rattling and making a weird wind/feedback sound, and 2) I am already very pleased with the Tritton AX720 for my PS3.
When I opened the box from Amazon today, I couldn't believe the packaging on this thing, it is truly a sight to see and almost makes you not want to open it at all. Once you do get it open though, you find the real nice carrying case for the headset, and this case is no joke, it is seriously awesome and would provide great protection if taking along to a LAN party or something.
Inside I was pleased to find that there is an extra set of ear cups, but displeased to see that the connection between the sound module on this one and my 720 is different, so I can use both headsets on my 720 amp. The cord on this is thick and braided, and is reinforced up where it meets the headset. The inline amp has controls for front/rear/sub/center, and it looks scarily similar to the one on the Turtle Beach (hopefully just a coincidence), and at the end it is 5.1 jacks in the standard 3.5mm and a USB power cord.
Once I put this baby on I knew it was the real deal. It is 100x more comfortable out of the box than any headset I have ever had. There is literally no break in needed with this, in fact I have had it on now for 7 hours straight and no discomfort at all! The build is beefier too, and the Tritton logos on the sides glow white. While it is not sound cancelling, it does give good reduction, so that's a plus.
Now on to the sound... This is where this headset really shines. The sound quality and bass is awesome, and surround sound replication is great. Everything sounded much clearer in WoW, and I could tell and almost feel where I was getting shot from in BF2BC. Music was great as well. I did need to do some tweaking with my sound card to get the sound where I wanted it, but the end result with this set is amazing. I don't play Black Ops, but the Black Ops branding doesn't bother me at all.
Buy it already, you won't regret it!
